Fonts & Word 98 Speed

I have a lot of fonts in the pop down menu. does that slow down word speed
or computer speed?

If so, where can the fonts that are not crucial be stored, or do they have
to be entirely removed or backed up from the computer?

Thanks, Rafael

Both. Each font installed loads into memory and makes that memory
unavailable to either other applications or Word.

There are various type manager programs around that enable you to have fonts
installing themselves only when you need them. Search the internet for
"type manager" or "font manager" to get a list.

I don't use them: they can lead to Word crashing problems. I use less than
100 fonts, and those are the only ones I install.

Cheers

By a lot of fonts I mean, for me, under a hundred fonts. Since that's the
number you install, does that mean that would be the limit for me too and
that I will not reduce speed if I'm under a hundred? I have a 2gb wallstreet
g3 powerbook.
