Footer can't be separated from each other

I've got a document with an index on the second side. In the footer I would
like to show the name and searchway to the document and the "index" of this
side. I've used the helpfile and but everytime I try to "link off" the pages,
word has discovered a serious troble and must be shut down! I've got Word
2000 (and every update there is). Please help, I need to solve this!

If only this one document makes Word crash, it could be corrupt.
Have you tried copying the contents, except for the final paragraph
mark (¶) and the index (or is it a table of contents?) into a new
document. If you need assistance, see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/apperrors/CorruptDoc.htm.

In order to unlink footers (and/or headers) you have to insert a
section break. The general idea is explained at
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/HeaderFooter.htm.

But note that you may not need a section break. Instead, often you can
use STYLEREF fields to repeat data from the body of the document. See
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/StyleRef.htm.

Thanks for your replay!
I've tried to use the first option here. Opened the document - saved it as a
htm-file, quit Word. Tried to open the htm-file in Word again but that
doesn't work! I can choose the file I want to open but when Word starts to
open it - the program fails and crashes.

Can you open the HTML file in NotePad? If so, you can copy the text,
at least, and then recreate the Word document.
