Footer with Slidenumber

In Powerpoint for Mac 2004 it was possible to integrate the Slidenumber with the Field-Variable <Nr.> into the Footer, i.e. seamlessly following the Text in the Footer. In Powerpoint 2008 that does not work any more. Any Hints?
