footers

I know how to add a file name and file location in a footer, But how can I
make this file location automatically update if the file is saved to a
different location on the network. When I save the file to a different
location it maintains the previous file location. I remember this being
automatic in 2003? Any help is greatly appreciated!

There are network variables involved but just as important is which version
of Word you are using *now*. If no longer 2003 have you moved to 2007 or are
you now on a Mac? This is the group for Mac Word, but you'd still have to
provide additional details & specifics for anyone to be able to assist. If
you are still using a PC version of Word the Win Office groups here:

You haven't mentioned which version of Word you are using? The rules are
different for different versions. It sounds like you have one of the
versions that needs you to open the footer and update the field manually.
