Footnote format conversion

I am trying to convert several long files with many footnotes from WordPerfect to Word. The number *content* seems to convert ok and remains continuous (1-2-3), but I have a number of format differences that I can't seem to fix:
1. Any new footnotes added to the document do not show the note number in superscript, but rather in the same font as text.
2. The new footnotes take Word format (flush left and single spaced with 10 point), while the old WP footnotes have an indent on the first line, spaces between each note, and are in 12 point
3. Altogether there are a few hundred footnotes, so any way to avoid doing each note one by one would be best. I don't want to hit superscript for each new note... how can I change the overall default note format after a WP conversion

Is there any hope? Or do I need to keep this manuscript in WordPerfect

I hope you find a way....you could try going from WP to RTF to Word, and see
if that helps.

When you select the note marks and the footnote text, does the Style menu
show Footnote reference and Footnote text? If so, reapplying the styles,
via Format | Style, might fix the appearance.

With luck others have better suggestions.

I'm not sure if this reply will appear (my last one didn't), but if so, I think that the suggestion by Dayo Mitchell can fix the problem.

The style on the footnotes can be fixed by page (select those at the bottom of each page), so the process doesn't have to go by note; then it is best to 1) make sure that it is the right style (footnote text) and 2) to "modify" the footnote reference style within styles font if it doesn't look as it should. For the footnote references, modifying the style seemed to fix the problem that the general footnote reference style changed with the carryover from WordPerfect.

With the references, these seemed to follow with one fix, while the note text had to go by page. (If there is another way to do this, still open to it!)

Actually, if the note numbers and text still have the proper style applied,
but for some reason it just isn't showing up properly, first try running a
Find and Replace. Click on More, then use the Format dropdown menu. Leaving
both boxes empty, format them both as Footnote Reference, and Find and
Replace the style with itself. This reapplies the style and can fix the
appearance. Repeat for Footnote text (or whatever style). You may still
need to re-apply the style manually in a few places.
