Footnote in a textbox?

I am using Word:Mac 2004, version 11.3.8

I am having trouble inserting a footnote in my textboxes.
When the cursor is in the textbox, inserting a footnote is not
possible.

What can I do?

Hope someone have an idea.

You're not having trouble, you're failing miserably

Not a thing you can do about it - footnotes (as well as endnotes) in text
boxes ( which are graphic objects) are not supported in any version of Word
because text in text boxes is not apart of the document's text flow.

Now the Good News Select the text box, go to Format> Text Box...> Text
Box tab & click Convert to Frame, then footnote to your heart's content.
