footnote once more

I have a reference to a footnote at the end of the last paragraph on a page
such that it is close to the bottom the page. Because Word cannot fit both
the reference point and the footnote on the same page, it moves two lines of
my text to the next page, such that it can now print the note on the same
page as the reference point. As a result, there is a several lines empty
space on the previous page. Since my notes are numbered consecutively
throughout the document, I can have the note on the page following the
reference point.

Can it be done and if so how?

Insert the actual footnote reference on the next page, formatted as Hidden.
On the previous page, insert a cross-reference to "Footnote number,
formatted."
