Footnote runoff

I am editing a long document that was converted from Word
Perfect to Word in Office 2003. A few of the footnotes
that are two or more lines long won't auto-fit on the
page they are referenced. These sentences will run over
to the bottom footnote location on the following page(s).
I can't figure out how to clear or reset these few
footnotes so the entire note will appear on one page.
Also, when they run over they appear on the bottom of the
following page with a full line bar over the text rather
than just a short left justified line bar over the
footnote.

In order to keep an entire footnote on a single page, you
can set the "Keep lines together" option for the footnote
paragraph style.

The line is called a Footnote Continuation Separator, and it is standard
practice to denote a note that has run over from the previous page. However,
if you still need to change it after taking Stefan's advice, then in Normal
View, click View Footnotes--a Footnote pane will appear at the bottom. Use
the dropdown menu at the top of the Footnotes page to view the Footnote
Continuation Separator, and edit as required. (Probably best to just copy
the Footnote Separator).

Thankyou for the reference. However, I guess my footnotes
are not as described. On page 51 is footnote 11. The next
page, has a two line footnote numbered 14 but no text
reference on the page. 14 refers to a footnote reference
on page 57 and the footnote doesn't show on page 57 it
shows on page 52. If I delete footnote 14 on either page
then the footnote holder on page 52 grabs 2 lines of
footnote 15 on page 60 and so on. HOW DO I GET RID OF
THE GHOST FOOTNOTE PLACER/HOLDER ON PAGE 51.
