Footnote Styles

Mie

Hello,
I use Word 2000 and I would like to use different footnote
styles in different parts of a document, separated by
section breaks; i.e. using a,b,c in the first section and
1,2,3 in the second section. I've used Insert->Footnote-
Options->Restart each Section, but no matter how I try,
if I change the footnote style in the first section, it
also changes in the second section. It's either numbers,
either letters.
Though footnotes are not in the footer area, I also tried
View->Header and Footer->NOT'Same as previous'.
Could anyone please help me with this?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, Mie, can't help, but can confirm your results. A quick check in Word
2001 produces the same problem for me. Can anyone out there make multiple
setting for numbering footnotes work? Help is not particularly useful, and
not clear on whether this is or isn't possible, so far as I can tell.
