"Footnote text" style missing from list of "All styles"

When I cut and paste body text into a footnote, it often retains the Body
Text style. I try to fix the style by highlighting the pasted text and
opening the "Styles and Formatting" window to apply Footnote Text style. But
the footnote text and footnote reference styles are missing from the list of
"All Styles." How do I make them appear on the list, or how can I at least
correct the problem of having Body Text styles in my footnotes?
Many thanks!

Microsoft's concept of "All styles" is a bit deficient, isn't it? This will
be improved in Word 12, I believe. For the time being, press Shift while
clicking the arrow beside the Style box on the Formatting toolbar to force
it to display *all* styles.

Hi Suzanne,

Not sure that will happen. Maybe Microsoft's reasoning is that styles like
those for Document Map, comments, footnotes, ... are applied automatically,
and they want to discourage users from applying them manually?

Greetings,
Klaus
