Footnotes at the Bottom of a Table

I'd like to insert one or more footnotes within a table
and have the footnote placed at the bottom of the table.
Any way to do this? Currently, I can only get the
footnotes to be placed at the bottom of the page or at the
end of the document.

Thanks!

Found on Google (original posted by Suzanne Barnhill):

If you want the footnotes at the bottom of the table, I
usually find that the simplest approach is to insert them
by hand (not using Word's built-in Footnote feature); I
often put them in the bottom row of the table (all
cells merged) to be sure they stay with the table. Since
it's conventional to use superscript letters or the *, †,
‡ series for table footnote reference marks, these need
not affect the normal 1, 2, 3 series of text footnotes.

Thanks for saving me the trouble. Now the question is, did Google or your
newsreader (or mine) convert † and ‡ into unrecognizable hieroglyphics?

Suzanne,

Must have been the browser, because I copied the correct symbols and they
pasted correctly. Odd.

When I tried to post, I got the usual "can't do this, do you want to use
Unicode" message despite the fact that the dagger and double dagger are part
of the standard ANSI character set <sigh>. I chose Unicode (which made my
post UTF-8 <shudder>), but at least they did come through in my initial post
if not in your reply. I simply cannot fathom how OE handles character sets.
