footnotes converted from another document

We have a document (.doc) that was sent to us by email. When the portions of
the document were copied over to our document (.docx) the footnote format was
messed up. The numbers in the document as well as in the footer were all the
same font. There were 136 footnotes.... Does anyone know a quick fix for
this problem other than changing each footnote font manually to superscript?

Make sure that the Footnote Reference character style includes superscript
formatting.

If that doesn't help, you must also reapply the style to the footnotes
references in the document, which can be done with Find & Replace: Press
Ctrl+H. In the dialog box, specify ^f (for "Find what") and ^& for ("Replace
with"). Also, with the insertion point in the "Replace with" box, click
Format, Style, and choose the Footnote Reference style. Click OK and then
click Replace All.

Thank you so much that was perfect!

Modify the Footnote Reference style and make sure that it includes
superscript formatting.
