footnotes--how to use same number again

Fish,

I understand what you want. Problem is that Word won't
give it to you exactly. As you have probably already
realized, Word won't let you insert two or more footnotes
each with the same number and put a single footnote at the
bottom of the page.

That said, it's time to for tricks.

1. If all you want is the look of what you describe
(printed on paper) and not the functionality of Word's
footnotes, then you can insert your first footnote (with
text) and then just use superscripted numerical characters
at the other locations (Note CTRL+SHIFT+= key toggles to
superscript).
2. Another method is to insert a cross reference to your
first footnote Insert>Cross Reference>Reference Type
(Footnote)>Insert Reference To (Footnote Number formatted)
This will link back to the first footnote which in turn
will display or link to the footnote text.
3. You could also bookmark the footnote text and then
insert hyperlinks at each cross reference that point to
the bookmark.
