footnotes - need to renumber

I

Isabelle

Hello,

I've just discovered that in all my chapters the footnotes are supposed
to start with number '1'. At the moment they are continuous throughout
the document.

Please can you tell me how to renumber my footnotes? It sounds like it
must be very simple, but I can't find anything in word help to show me
how!

Thanks for your time,

Isabelle

It's kinda buried.

Go to Insert Footnote.

Click on Options. Choose Restart each section. Click OK. Click Close to
exit the dialog without inserting a footnote.

To get this to work, you need a section break at the beginning of each
chapter. Put the cursor before each chapter title, and Insert a next page
section break.

The footnotes will restart at each section.
