Footnotes

I am in the process of writing a book and I am having
problems with the MS Word footnotes. Here is the
problem: (1) in each chapter I have multiple sections
given that I have pages set in landscape and portrait.
(2) I want to start renumbering the footnotes with each
chapter (section break-new page). The problem is that
given the options for footnotes you can do (1)
continuous, (2) restart every page, (3) restart every
section I am not able to restart the numbering of each
chapter. I have tried to highlight a chapter and
select "selected section" from "apply changes to" and I
still have problems because if continuous is used no
changes are made or restart every page or restart every
section is used it makes changes based on this. The
problem seems to be the pages that I have a landscape
need to be set as new section-page break. If I could set
them to just landscape without new section I could have
section breaks only for the chapters. Thanks for any
help.

Hi,
You can work around this by:

Set Footnotes to restart each section. After a landscape page, manually set
the number for the footnotes to begin at.

Word can't do landscape pages w/o separate sections--think about the
dramatic changes with layout, margins, printer, etc required for a change to
landscape pages and it will make more sense.

Granted my suggested workaround is not ideal. Please do complain to
(e-mail address removed), maybe we could get some sort of footnote option that
restarts at every Heading One or something.
