Foppy disc

Peter Evans

I may be the only one out here still using them but I
have lost information contained on a disc. I get a
message telling me that the disc cannot be read and it is
unformatted.

Is ther any way I can access the information saved to the
disc or will there be a copy hidden on the hard drive
that can be accessed. I have not saved to the hard drive.

Hi

Was this floppy originally created on this floppy drive or on a different
computer?
Sometimes a floppy drives heads will go out of alignment and it can read
files saved on itself, but not files saved on another drive.
If you can read it on another computer, email a copy to yourself.

Floppy discs corrupt quite easily, especially if you save Word files
directly to them from the Word application. The message you see derives from
Windows, so your PC is not going to have any luck with it. If another PC
cannot read it then your basic choices are to seek help from a professional
data recovery firm or throw away the floppy.
