For Excel Mac

Captain Apollo

Hi there,

I know that I should use microsoft.public.excel.mac but looking at their
recent postings and replies, I would find more activity at the local grave
yard.

There is an urgent issue and I hope that there is a quick answer to this.

Computer : Mac Power Pc G4 1.67 GHz
OS : OSX 10.4.10
Excel : Excel Mac 2004 11.3.3 (061213)

One of my colleagues has a Mac with the above configurations.

This colleague has opened a document (I believe as normal as possible) and
she can edit the document at the cell level.

The issue is that she cannot do the following tasks and probably more.

Save
Print
Copy
Paste
Properties
Protect Document etc. etc.

Basically almost everything looks grayed out and I have no reason for this
to be happening.

Unfortunately this colleague typed in the information during the corse of
the day and at the end she would like to save but this is happening.

Does someone have a solution to this as I am keenly interested in providing
this for her.

Kindest Regards

Tom

The m.p.excel.macintosh group has been deprecated for several years now,
so I'm not surprised that it's quiet. The active group is
microsoft.public.mac.office.excel. I've cross-posted and set follow-up
to that group.

I can't think of any way a "normal" workbook could cause this other than
via macros. Did your colleague create the file? Is her
Preferences/Security/Macro Security/Warn before opening a file that
contains macros checkbox checked?

Can she perform these functions using the keyboard shortcuts (e.g.,
CMD-s for Save, CMD-c for Copy)? Can she create a new workbook and use
those commands?

What happens if she types Opt-F11 to enter the Visual Basic Editor? If
it opens, can she type CMD-g to enter the Immediate Window, then enter
"ActiveWorkbook.Save" (without quotes) followed by the Return key?

If nothing else works, does she get a prompt to save the workbook when
she tries to close it?

Note that your colleague is significantly behind in her MacOffice
updates - the current XL version is 11.3.7. I don't think this has
anything to do with the problem she's having, however. She can update
automatically by running the Microsoft AutoUpdate application, or by
choosing Help/Check for Updates from any Office app.
