For Microsoft Employees only...Product key not being accepted

P

Peter

In trying to use Customer Service on www.microsoft.com, I followed all the
steps to get free service, but my valid product key is not being accepted.
Please post a reply or provide a phone number at no cost so that this can be
resolved. Thanks.

MS Employee's don't post here, accept on rare occassions
The contact number depends on your location, and the product you seek help
on
And since a 'valid product key' is not accepted one has to ask were that key
was obtained from.

Is your valid product an OEM product? (purchased with the computer) If yes,
then you will need to contact the seller from whom you purchased the
computer for assistance.

The product code is directly off of the Office Home and Student 2007 CD,
which I purchased in Feb or March of this year.

I should say it more exactly--not off the CD but off the inside of the clear
plastic box the CD came in--a series of four, 5-digit alpha-numeric symbols.

I have had this happen. There are a few technical reasons, the only
solution of which is to call Microsoft and go through 1. A rep. from India
who will be unhelpful but give you 2. The US number for tech. They can
diagnose this...it will take a while.

Did you uninstall any trial version of Office together with any Activation
Assistant, from add/remove dialogue then reboot, prior to installing from
your cd?

Thanks for everyone's messages--am not sure what phone number to call for
Customer Service on this at Microsoft. In any case, the Lenovo PC we
purchased had a trial version of Office.

With Microsoft's help months ago, we uninstalled it when we installed the
student version

BTW, the PC which I was on, when I went to type in the product code on
Microsoft's customer service website, was not the PC in question. So I'm not
sure of the basis for the question--let me know. Can't I use my older PC
that has Office 2003 installed on it, to go to Microsoft.com and get help
with my newer PC that has Office 2007 on it

Anyway, I'm not sure how the rejection of the valid product code which we
purchased from Microsoft would have occurred.

These questions are all in the hopes of resolving a blockage that started in
Excel today--after using a template from Office 2007 for Charitable
Deductions, all spreadsheets on our 2007 PC are now frozen--the keyboard is
dead when you try to write in a cell. It will only take data in a cell if
you write it in the formula bar on the top. Tried Protection feature and
tried Formula - Calculate Now, but neither helped. I posted this earlier
today on the Excel community section but got no reply.

Thanks again.

When requesting MS assistance you used the Key for Office 2007, which was a
retail version?

In Excel
Office Orb Brn, click>Excel Options>Resources>Activate
Does that help?

Are you sure that you were being asked for the Product Key and not the
Product ID? They are differ rent numbers. For Office the Product ID is
obtain from Help, About. For Windows, it is provided in System Information.

And the Product ID is never asked for in activation or installation....

True. However, the OP stated that he was trying to use Customer Service at
www.microsoft.com. I do not recall, Customer Service ever asking me for my
Product Key.
