I am physician and an armature programmer. I had been working with
several development systems for past 15 years including Borland java
builder, visual basic since its third edition and java script.
I had learn all those program on my own with help of books and
internet and never had any major issue about finding solution for the
bump I run into.
I have been following the xform and XML development for sometimes now.
I got excited when I heard about InfoPath.
Unfortunately all my expectation evaporated when start working with
InfoPath.
I never have seen such an unfriendly development environment in my
life.
This program is so unassailable and with so much restriction that I
still can't believe people who develop that had any common sense.
I can not grasp the idea why MS team put so much security restriction
on this program.
The idea of "sandbox" ing the program is so restrictive that I am sure
will kill this program.
Does MS team think that InfoPath is the only program that works with
internet?
Why designing form should should be so complicated.
I have been reading tons of material for past couple of days on
security issue in InfoPath and appears to me that there is only one
way that you can use this program and it's the only way that MS has in
mind and that's a large corporation with huge IT and development
team.
Why in the world a form that I am trying to design and use on my
computer should have problem accessing my computer resource
When you cant even test your own design form on your machine I can
imagine what would it be look like trying to implement and deploy this
system on a huge corporate scale.
I truly believe that the InfoPath will be remembered as one of the
huge blunders of Microsoft .This again demonstrates that how big
corporations destroy good ideas in programming.
MS had a chance to be the leader in development of Xform but
apparently we have to wait and see what open source community will
come up in this platform.
Lots of lots good ideas in InfoPath but unfortunately they are not for
average Joe programmer and they are locked up in "sandbox" castle,
AND THEY WILL SATY THERE!!!!!!
Deeply disappointed with MS
