Hi,
Windows 2000 Pro SP 4
Word XP SP3
I notice that if a document is opened in Read mode (E.g. by someone who
only has Read permission on the file) and a second user (E.g. someone
who has Read+Write) attempts to open the same document, it is
automatically opened as Read-only for the second user (and they don't
receive any sort of prompt). However, if the document is opened by
someone in Read+Write mode, and if a second user attempts to open the
file, they receive a File in Use dialog box. That dialog provides them
with the following options
- Open a Read Only copy
- Create a local copy and merge your changes later
- Receive notification when the original copy is available
I would like to force that dialog to appear in the first scenario as
well. Is this possible?
Thanks,
Rob
