Hi Alan,
Try this
Create styles directly from cells in Microsoft Exce
Tip taken from chapter 5 in the book Mr Excel On Excel
Add the Style icon to the Formatting toolbar.
Select a toolbar.
Right-click, and in the shortcut menu select Customize.
Select the Commands tab. In the Categories box, select Format.
From the Commands box, select Style. Drag the command to th
Formatting toolbar, and drop it near the Font icon.
Create styles directly from cell
After you format a cell, you can quickly and easily save that forma
as a style by entering the name of the style in the Style box an
then pressing Enter.
Not
After you have added the Style icon to the toolbar, using the Alt+
shortcut lets you select the Style in the icon itself. It does no
open the Style dialog box
This was mailed to me from the exceltip.com mailing list!
Very helpful
