forced hyperlinks while typing

I am using ms word 2000. When I type text that has '@' character in it,
immediatly ms word shows this as a hyperlink. Word assumes every typed
text which has '@' letter in it is email address. This assumption is
not true in my case.

I need to right click on this stupid hyperlink every time and select
"remove hyperlink" to get rid of this "forced" hyperlink on me.

Does any one knows this 'feature' of forcing email hyperlink can be
turned off?
