Forcing text next to source of connector?

Is there any way to force the text on a connector shape to be
positioned near the source shape?

In a large flowchart, it is not helpful for the "Yes" on that branch
of a decision shape to be halfway down the connector. I want to see it
right next to the decision box.

Thanks

OK. I discovered that the Text Block tool will allow me to manually
move the text on the connector. Is there some way to define connectors
so that the text automatically stays close to the source end of the
connector?

Yes, you can edit the Dynamic Connector master shape found in the Document
Stencil. Go to File > Shapes > Show Document Stencil and double-click on
the Dynamic Connector. Make your change and close the edit window.

On my system, it is File > Stencil > Document Stencil. I'm using Visio
2002. Do I need to upgrade?

When I double-clicked on the dynamic connector, I got what looked like
a design screen. I was able to change various properties of the shape,
but I couldn't see how to move the label. It wouldn't allow me to drag
it and there isn't any property box that I can see.

Am I missing something?

Thanks

Text is moved with the Text Block Tool. On the Standard toolbar, go to the
Text Tool ("A") and click the dropdown arrow to the right of the button.
This allows you to select the Text Block Tool. Then click on the connector
and move the text to a new location near one of the ends.

This should work similarly in Visio 2002 and Visio 2003.

Got it -- thanks.

PS: In order to get the text to be centered on the line, I needed to
offset it a bit in the edit window. If the text box is perfectly
centered on the connector line, it is offset to the left a bit on the
actual drawing.
