Foreign Characters - VBA - Excel

Hi,

In my excel spread sheet I have Czech and Polish characters - like,
cezcezcez

However when I get them from the spread sheet into a VBA variable they
become czczczcz.

How do I stop this happening please?

I get them cell like....

Phrase = CStr(Cells(Row, Column).Value)

Removing the CStr makes no difference.

Even this has done it!!!

The c's and z's all have accents. They are being autoconverted to
non-accented characters. Which is losing data I need. How do I stop this
happening.
