Foreign Language Font Troubles (Specifically Japanese)

I'm having some issues with Japanese fonts. I've got the latest
versions of Mac OS Tiger and MS Office for Mac Entourage. Here's the
issue: Often times when sending or (most frequently) when receiving
emails, the Japanese fonts are totally garbled. It shows up as diamond
shapes, question marks, or even as chinese characters. The email
account is through MS hotmail, POP'd to Entourage. Please let me know
if this is just a font issue or something deeper in the programing of
how MS based computers and email servers deal with foreign language
fonts. Thanks.

It could be a corrupted file in your ~/Library/Caches. Try deleting

com.microsoft.browserfont.cache
tasmanbrowser.cache
