Foreign Language Proofing Tools

Brandon

Despite the fact that I followed all of the Office Assistant's
directions for installing and activating the French and German
proofing tools, when I select either of those two languages from the
tools menu and select the dictionaries in the spelling and grammar
preferences, it does not check spelling and grammar at all. What
should I do to make them work?

Hi Brandon,

Please ALWAYS state your OS and Office/Word version numbers.

Assuming you're in Word X, are you fully updated? You should have applied
the following Office updaters: 10.1.2, 10.1.4 (includes 10.1.3 which is
specifically a language proofing tools updater), and 10.1.5. You can get
these updaters here: <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/download/>

When you're done updating, repair permissions:

For OS 10.2.x:
Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. Open up Disk Utility. Select
your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab. Click the button to "Repair
Disk Permissions".

For OS 10.1.5:
Download the Repair Privileges utility, free from Apple, and run it:
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106900>

Note: If you already updated to 10.1.4 (or 10.1.3) *before* installing the
proofing tools, you'll need to reapply the updater.

If the problem still exists when you've completed this, post back and
someone who's more experienced with language problems than I am will try to
help, I'm sure.

Beside that, I foresee a problem here. When you install the proffing
tools on an up to date install of Office, the proffing tools themselves
won;t be updated. My guess is that you'll need to uninstall Office and
then re-install it with the proffing tools you need and then only update
Office to 10.1.5...
