Forgotten Excel password

I have an excel file from 2001 that I would like to open, but have
forgotten the password to access it. Is there any way of getting around
this?

Unfortunately, your best bet is probably to Google for Excel password
crackers. There are some that are applications running in Windows, but
there are at least a couple (decryptum.com is one - they'll let you
preview your sheet within 3 minutes or so to verify that the decryption
worked) that you can send your file to, and they'll send you back the
unprotected file (decryptum charges $39 last I checked).
