what version of access are you using? if the data entry
form uses a combo box that stores the EmpNum but displays
the EmpName, then it should do so whether you are adding a
new record, editing existing records, or just viewing
existing records. i never heard of a combo box
spontaneously changing its' properties in a form when you
move from a new record to an existing record.
if you still need help with this, you're welcome to send
me a copy of your db and i'll take a look at it in Access
2000. delete proprietary data from the copy (leave a
couple fake records), compact it, and zip if necessary to
under 2 MB.
