Form Field Inside of a Text Box

I am using Word 2003.

Is it possible to insert a form field inside of a text box? I have been
given a document that has 3 text boxes into which I would like to insert text
fields. When I attempt to do this the icons on the toolbar are not active.

Put it in a table cell.

That is what I normally would have done but the document has a ton of
existing formatting and there are a nuber of existing text boxes. Any ideas?

As Graham's reply suggested you can't put a Form field in Text Boxes as well
as other types of graphic objects. Table cells are the best bet, although
you may be able to convert the existing Text Boxes to Frames - in which Form
fields can be used.
