PERFECT....however, when document is locked the user can
still hit return!!! The typing stops at 32 length(I set
to 32) but when user hits enter instead of tab it moves
the curser down and reformats the document. Can i run a
macro to disable enter button or better make it act like
a tab button, or am i stuck using tables....I tried
unsucessfully to use tables as I have 147 Fields. PLWASE

Hi, Jarod,

There are several ways to interpret what you meant by "size of the form
field text", but I don't think Suzi picked the right one.

If you're referring to the font size, first select the field (while
protection is off) and press Shift+F9 to toggle the field code. Between the
keyword FORMTEXT and the closing field brace, type in the switch

\* MERGEFORMAT

Make sure there's a space after the T. Press Shift+F9 again to toggle off
the field code. Then select the field and set the size as you would for any
other text. [Note: this rigamarole is necessary because without it, when you
change the font size and reprotect the document, the field will return to
the same size as the surrounding text.]

If you meant the width of the field when the user first sees it, then open
the Properties box and type a bunch of hard spaces (Ctrl+Shift+spacebar) in
the Default Text box. In an ordinary text form field there are 5 spaces, as
you can see if you toggle on nonprinting characters.
