I have a continuous form that i would like to have users use the built-in
filter-by-selection or filter-by-form capabilities. Is there a way to capute
the filter statement that Access must be creating and utilizing?

Yes, you can capture it in the Apply Filter event ...

Private Sub Form_ApplyFilter(Cancel As Integer, ApplyType As Integer)

Debug.Print Me.Filter

End Sub
