Form Object Names

Okay, I may be stupid but I have hunted and hunted to find where, in
the Mac version of Excel, one specifies or even finds the name of a
form object (in my case, a created combobox).

In the PC version, I can select Properties and voila. No such thing,
apparently, in the Mac version.

The Help is useless, of course. And, surprisingly, the Excel books at
the bookstore are no help either.

Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you mean by "Form Object":

If you're talking about a ComboBox object from the Forms Toolbar on the
worksheet:

Select the ComboBox. The name is in the Name Box at the
left side of the Formula Bar. By default it is something
like "Drop Down 1". You can give it any valid name by
editing in the Name Box.

If instead you're talking about a Userform ComboBox object:

In the VBE, select the ComboBox. In the properties window
(ctrl-click the ComboBox and choose Properties, if the
window isn't visible), the object's name is in the

(NAME)

field, which will be at the top if you choose the
"Alphabetic" tab. The default name will be something
like ComboBox1. You can edit the name in that field.

Note that MacXL doesn't have ActiveX ComboBoxes.
