Form only partially hides

I have a simple form containing a progress bar that shows some pre-save
processing on tasks. If this form is displayed on top of a split view, with
the RH side showing a Gantt chart, only the part NOT on top of the Gantt
chart disappears when I hide the form (when tasks done processing). The rest
of the form stays there until the entire save process is complete.

How can I get the form to disappear completely in this instance?
