Form recording to database in Frontpage

I've got a form working on my own local computer and it stores the
information in an Access database on my local computer without any problems.
I've had the form and an Access database working on an old server as well.
In addition, I've got this combination working on a new server with its new
software (Server 2003) in the root folder for the web site BUT I can't get it
to work in a sub-folder of that web site and that's where it needs to be.
When I try within Frontpage to publish or copy the form page and database to
the sub-folder on the new server, the data connection material is removed
automatically from the form and, of course, then the form does not work.
I've been in constant contact with our server administrator but he does not
know why this is happening either though he is new to Server 2003. What is
going wrong here? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help you can
provide.

You must create a subweb/site on your local, then add the database component, etc. to the
subweb/site and then publish the subweb/site to the live/remote server.

Thanks for your prompt response. When I attempt to create a subsite i get
an error message that states "Unable to create a disk-based Web at
"C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\forms\public" because its parent Web would not be a
disk-based Web. Create the disk-based Web elsewhere, outside of your Web
server's document hierarchy." Since this is on my local computer, I'm a
little confused. Apparently I don't understand what "disk-based web" means.
Please explain what is going on here. Thanks for the help.

That is because you need to always open and work with your web via http://localhost and not via a
drive letter.
