form results to email not working

Hope someone can help. We have inserted a form page for inquiries and
availability on our web page (we are using Front page 2000) We want to be
able to get the form results in our email. We have put the email address in
the Forms properties space where it asks for it. However, when we try to
submit the form from the actual web page we get the message "Cannot run
Front page Server Extensions Smart HTML interpreter on this non HTML page."

We have Front Page extensions enabled and have checked with our IP provider.
If we take out the email address we can view the form results on line but
that is not convenient.

Thanks for your help

The web server admin must configure FP/FPSE to send email. Have you used
FP to send email before?

Hello PC,
Thanks for your reply.
We are working on our first Web page. We have never used FP to send email
before.
We spoke to our service provider/web server admin and were advised that all
Front Page Server extensions were enabled for FP2000 which is what we are
using. Our counter is working and from what we have read that means at
least some extensions are enabled.
Could we be missing something in our set-up?
Or is there some specific question we should be asking our service provider?
Thanks again.

Hello again:
The IP provider says they are a Windows Server.
Thanks for the link. We have tried to follow it.
However the first part of the answer refers to "internet Information
server".. We have no idea what that is or how to access it?
In the instructions for FP2000 it says to enter the SMTP mail server. In
the Email Results tab of Form properties, all it asks for is email address.
There is no reference to SMTP server. Are we supposed to be looking
somewhere else?
Sorry for all these questions and thanks for your expertise.
