Form Template problems

I'm running Word '04 on my Mac, and am having a problem when I use the
Form Template I created.

It's a simple form consisting of a number of text form fields. I
would like to be
able to create documents using this template, but since the text
fields are
locked, it won't allow me to format the text (i.e. Bold, Italic, etc).
Is there a
way to do this?

I tried unlocking the boxes when I was in the document (not the
template).
This worked, although it wouldn't allow me to click on a single word
or a
piece of the text. Instead, it would automaticaly highlight the
entire
body of text in that particular text field, and to make a word in
italic, I had to
delete the word and retype it in italic. Then, to make matters worse,
when I
click to re-lock the fields, it erases all of the text in the entire
document, and I
can't Undo it! The only thing I could do is revert to a previously
saved
version of the document. Please help!

I am using Office 2001 for the Mac, and made a form template and placed it
into the Documents folder with an alias in the Apple Menu. I can do just
about anything I want with this form, but use it mainly to copy news
articles from the Web and put them into this form and name it something as a
Save As so that all of the Web HyperText language is removed. Then I can
stash the article away in another folder for future reference. You can make
any number of these forms in your Documents folder to use for this purpose
and set them up with just about any characteristics that you want.

Thanks, but it really didn't resolve my problem. Let me go in to a
bit more detail, and maybe that will help.

The template I created is really basic; there are two text form fields
at the top with text in them. This is for my law classes, so the text
in the first box is in italic, and simply reads 'Case Title'. When
I'm doing a case briefing, I just want click on the first box, punch
in the name of the case, and it automatically puts it in italics. The
next 6 text fields are each preceded by a title. So, in bold text on
the fourth line down it says FACTS OF THE CASE, and the next line is a
blank text field.

The problem I'm running in to is when I want to change the formatting
of the text in any of these locked fields. If they're locked, I can't
change them at all. When I unlock them, changing them is a pain (I
can't just highlight one word in a field, I can only highlight the
entire field, and then manually scroll through the box using the arrow
keys to get to the word I want). Then when I finish, if I try to lock
the boxes again, ALL the text in all of the fields is erased, and Word
will not allow me to Undo. Any ideas?!?
