Form - Text Field, Default Text when anyone re-protects with a pas

I'm trying to figure out how to go around the defualt text for any text
field. It seems that when anyone types in a text field, then decides to
unprotect the document in order to change anything on the form outside of a
text field, then reprotects it with a password, the text previously entered
into a text field erases. It always defualts back to nothing (or whatever is
slated to be in the defualt text field). However, this is only the case when
it is protected with a password. Without a password, it stays whatever was
typed there. Is there anyway to get around that? Any macros to help? I just
want the text fields to not defualt -ever. Thanks.

Try using the lock icon on the Forms toolbar to protect & unprotect the doc
rather than using the menu command. This "may" work if you're using Word
2008, will *not* if using 2004 or X.

For those earlier versions see:

http://word.mvps.org/faqs/macrosvba/TurnFmFlfResetOff.htm

However, this won't work in 2008 because of the lack of VBA support in that
version.

This is a "real world" issue, so please let us know whether the first fix
works if 2008 is your flavor - I haven't had reason to test it as yet:) If
it doesn't I'd request that you use Word's Help> Send Feedback to bring the
issue to the attention of the MS staffers to make sure they are aware of the
problem - without VBA I know of no other way to avoid the behavior.

There is a macro that will work for versions of Word less than 2008:

Hope this helps
