Format AutoShape

Whenever I put a shape on my powerpoint, I can't make it go in front of or in
back of another shape. I can't go to the "picture" tab on FormatAuto Shape
screen. I've done many powerpoints before and this is the first time this has
happned. For some reason I can't get on the "picture" tab. Can someone please
tell me why this is happening and how can I fix it?

lisrm3,
Maybe I am misreading your question totally, if so forgive me. By AutoShapes
you mean rectangles, circles and such. The picture tab has never been
available for AutoShapes, the only thing you can do is to apply a fill
effect to the AutoShape then you can use a picture. Once the fill effect is
present, the picture tab will be available to further format the picture.

Yes, I do mean squares, rectangles, ect. However, imagine that you want to
put a blue square ON TOP of a red square. All you have to do is double-click
the red square, go to the "picture" tab and click "in front of object." Now,
I can't do that. I've done 10 animated powerpoint presentations before and
everything was fine. In Word or in Powerpoint, I can't put a picture where I
want it anymore. I'm just frustrated. Thanks for your time, though.

lisrm3,
Sorry but when you double click the rectangle and get to the Format
AutoShape you have not got access to the picture tab. At least not in PPT
2002/2003. If you want to rearrange the order of overlapping objects,
right-click the red square choose arrange, then choose between move to
front, to foreground and so on.
If you use PPT 2007, double click the red square and on the format tab, in
the arrange group, click the to the foreground or background button and
choose. Or right-click and choose to background/foreground from there.
In PPT 2003 you can also use the drawing toolbar to do this, click the
drawing button, choose arrange, drag with the tear-off menu which will give
you a seperate toolbar with to above mentioned possibilities.
Somehow I think we are not talking about the same thing here.
