Format.Layer Dialog Box Sorting

I've recent upgraded from Visio 2000 to Visio 2003. In Visio 2000 the layer
list in the Format.Layer Dialog Box was sorted. In Visio 2003 it is not.
When working with a document that has 100+ layers sorting the list is an
essential feature. Is there a hidden setting that will enable sorting? Or
is this a "feature" of the new version.

If there isn't a way to sort the list in the 2003 version, can someone
comment on how the 2007 version works? I don't know when my company would
spring for the latest version but this could be an added incentive.

Hi Bob,

I don't know why this was changed, but unfortunately going to 2007 won't
help you since Visio 2007 works the same as 2003. I agree with you that a
sorted list in the Format>Layer dialog is a very nice feature when working
with many layers. Let's request that it gets put back in the next version.

The list is displayed in the dialog is in the same order as the layers are
created which is also the order they are displayed in the page's shapesheet.
I don't know of a way to reorder this list other than to write some code and
rework the shapesheet.
