Format of a template

Word Version 2002 & Windows 2000.
We have memo templates that our company uses. These are
protected forms. They are set up with Text form fields.
A user will open up the template and enter all the
information, save the document to their user directory and
then attach it to an e-mail to another user. The
attachment will open on the recipients computer with the
boxes still shaded from where the text form fields are.
Is there any way to get rid of the shading after it is
saved as a document?

Hi Becky,

The shading is a setting on the recipient's machine, so you can't control it
so long as you keep fields. You could use vba to intercept the Save and
SaveAs commands in your template to first change the fields to ordinary
text. An easier method, though, might be to convert the document to a flat
(no form fields) .pdf version. This would require your users having Adobe
Acrobat or other software to do the .pdf conversions.

If the .pdf version won't work for you, I would recommend reposting in the
vba.beginners newsgroup with a subject line of "Convert formfields to text
upon save."
