Format of Outlook form

Ilka Grüber

Hi there,

i'm trying to send outlook form to another email account on an exchange 2000 system outside my own exchange 2000 system.
It don't work until now.

Well, first I tryed to change my options in outlook till I found the information about administrate the exchange. I have read the
information about sending messages in RTF in the knowledge base.

My form was in RTF format. The last modifications on the form changes the format of my form into HTML. (I think in design mode my
sending options where changed to HTML).
How can I change this now back to RTF? Is there any way?

Thanks,
Ilka

First of all, let's clarify what you're trying to send. My guess is that
you're trying to send a mail message and that you want the recipient to view
that message using a particular form. TGhe message is the data; the form is
a layout.

There are two ways for a recipient to see the form layout associated with a
message. One is to have access to the published form definition. The other
is for the sender to embed the form layout in the message. The latter is
usually a bad idea, because it makes the item larger and prevents any code
associated with the form from running, but I suspect that in your case, it's
exactly what you want to do.

You didn't mention your Outlook version, BTW.

Here are the basic requirements for sending a message with the form
embeddedd:

1) On the (Properties) page for the form, check the box for "Send form
definition with item." Also, make sure you have a Read layout defined, not
just a compose layout.

2) Mark the recipient address as a rich-text recipient by double-clicking
the underlined address in the message for a one-off address or in the
contact record. If it's a GAL contact, this is a setting the Exchange
administrator controls, not the user.

3) Make sure the Exchange server is not set to convert all rich-text
messages to HTML. Again, the administrator's involvement is necessary here.

The message format should not need to be rich-text. I've seen HTML messages
with rich-text Winmail.dat attachments for the custom form content.

See http://www.outlookcode.com/d/sendform.htm for more information on this
issue.

Okay I try to clarify, what I'm trying to do.
Sorry about my english.

I use Outlook XP connected to Exchange 2000 and so the recepient do. There is no replication between this 2 Exchange systems. I send
the form definition (oft-file) to the recepient. He published it on his library for personal forms.
The account of the recipient is enabled for RTF-format. I've contacted my admin.
I sent a message based on this form to the recepient. In his inbox he received this message with the icon of ymy form (note icon
with a pin on it, that's what I defined). I think everything is fine. Now we try to use the way back.

My problem now is that I changed some information on my form design and now the form is not in rich text format, on title I see
MyForm - Message(HTML).
How can I change it back to RTF.

Thanks fpr help,

Ilka

That normally shouldn't be a problem with Outlook 2002. The HTML refers to
the format of the message body. Are you seeing a problem with the form on
the recipient end?

You can also change the outgoing mail format -- either the default or just
this message -- to RTF.
