format of .txt files converted from Word forms

I want to convert multiple (100's) of forms containing many types of data
into .txt files acceptable to Access 2003. The import function converts the
data into .txt in a notepad file, in a single column, that Access reads as
"fixed width" (without formatting and form field names). Seems that a
delimited format is best for my needs, but does that require formatting the
the notepad file? And, if so, is there a global way to do that to avoid
formatting each line of txt?

Hi Hal,

Have you tried to set up an import spec for the files. You can use the import
text wizard and use the spec over and over.

thanks, Nadine. I've used the wizard when converting the table to txt but
seem to have a problem with formatting the delimiter for some cells with
multiple datat types. for example, I've been successful with using comma
delimiters for the cells containing individual data, and the conversion in
Access from the "import data" puts that data in columns as expected, however,
the cells containing multiple data are placed in one column as in a "fixed
width" type. Any ideas on methods to avoid individual formatting of the txt
file data?
