Format Painter and Style

I use Format Painter to copy and paste format. It seems to do the job except that the style doesn't get changed. But I need the style (e.g. Heading 2) for my TOC. Is it true that Format Painter won't change the style? I guess I can just click on the style instead of using Format Painter.

Appreciate advice.

That's correct, Format Painter copies only direct formatting. If you
want a style, apply a style. Note that several of the commonly used
heading styles have keyboard shortcuts (for example, Heading 2 is
Ctrl+Alt+2), and you can assign shortcuts or toolbar buttons to other
styles that you use often

Thanks Jay for the confirmation. I appreciate the links too.

I heard that there might be some nice changes in this area for 2007??
