Format problem in Word 2000, can someone please help?

Hi,
I have several documents that my boss wants me to put together so it's all
part of one document. The problem is that when I copy and paste from one doc
to the other, the new info I'm pasting in comes up in the new doc with weird
formatting, all over the pages, with skipped pages and/or some of the info
that's in tables on top of other parts of the doc.
Is the only way to fix this by going line by line and changing the format?
This is driving me nuts!
I hope someone can help me.
