Format problem with blank document

I got a call a couple of days ago from a friend with a strange
problem. Everytime he opens a new document using the blank page he has
the first character on every line capitalized. He can't find, nor can
I, any format commands that may be causing this. I suspect a corrupt
normal.dot template and have suggested he delete the current one and
let Word create a new one.

Anyone know what kind of format command could have caused this and
suggestions for a fix?

If your friend is in the habit of ending every line by hitting Enter, as if the
computer is a typewriter, he needs to stop doing that.

There is a setting in Tools > AutoCorrect Options > AutoCorrect, labeled
"Capitalize first letter of sentences". If that's checked, then every time your
friend hits Enter, Word sees the start of a new paragraph and assumes that it's
also the start of a new sentence, so it capitalizes the word. So uncheck the
option to stop capitalizing new paragraphs.

Actually, though, you should press Enter only when you're starting a new
paragraph, not a new line. Let Word do automatic line wrap or, if you must start
a new line, press Shift+Enter to insert a line break.

I just called him and he says that he's not hitting Enter as per a
typewriter but letting the lines wrap. Guess it's something else.
