Formatting Boxes appearing on right side of Label doc

I have been using Word for years and this is the first time I've experienced
this one!! I was making some address labels (the same way I have done them
for 7 years) and when copying and pasting over to the next cells I suddenly
get formatting boxes to the right of the doc with a red line from the box
over to the text/graphic. I can't work out why this has started happening or
how to turn it off. The thing is that the formatting boxes print on the
document as well. I have scanned a copy of what I mean and placed it on my
webspace here: http://members.optusnet.com.au/~alisag/Word Formatting You
can't see it very well in the scan but there is a faint dotted line from the
format box over to the graphic. It is not always dotted but sometimes a
straight red line. At times when I copied and pasted my formatting would
change - same font but different colour and everything underlined (clicking
"underline" on/off does not turn this off).

I am using Windows XP Home and Word from Office XP (2002) and I haven't
changed anything or done any updating lately. Any help would be sincerely
appreciated.

Thanks and best wishes from ~purplegrrl~

Sounds like the stuff you get when reviewing a document.

Have you, perchance, turned on "Track Changes"?

Hi Phil - I have never used "Track Changes" but perhaps that was it - maybe
I accidentally double clicked it to turn it on in the taskbar. To be honest
I never had any idea what "track changes" was for!! In my mind I was putting
the emphasis on Track - like wondering what TRACK changes were. But now I
realise it is for Tracking CHANGES. (I feel silly............. lol)
