There is no easy way, because to tightly control the number of characters on
a line or the number of lines on a page because Word is unaware of the
concept of "pages" and will flow text over once text fills the margins that
have been specified by you.
The only way is to adjust the margins, count the number of characters in the
line, adjust the margins again ... until you get 60 characters on the line.
Similarly with 30 lines (adjust the top and bottom margins, and/or the line
spacing).
The only way you will achieve the 30/60 with moderate accuracy is to use
monospace fonts such as Courier New. In these fonts, every character takes
up the same space (which is why they don't look good and are difficult to
read). Otherwise, there will be minor variations.
Bear in mind that if you send such documents to another computer, its
settings may not result in the same number of lines or characters displaying
as on your Mac. The only way to lock them down is to save your Word document
as a PDF.
