Formatting changes when hitting backspace to move a line up a spac

When I hit backspace to move a line up a space, formatting changes and my
line starts at another point on the ruler.

For example, in the style box, this is what's showing when I click on the
line:
Normal + Times New Roman, Left: -1", Right: -1"

Then, when I click at the beginning of the line and hit backspace to move
that line up a space, the style changes to this:
Normal + Times New Roman, Right: -1"

This is very annoying, as it now does this on every one of my Word documents
all of a sudden.

Thanks for all help

Under Tools>AutoCorrect Options (or something like that in Word 2003) or
Office Button>Word Options>Proofing>AutoCorrect Options in Word 2007, go to
the AutoFormat As You Type tab and uncheck the box for "Set left- and
first-indent with tabs and backspaces" under the Automatically as you type
section of the dialog.
