Formatting Columns

Hello,
I have tried and have not found an answer.
Is there a way that I could arrange mail in a certain order, either by date
or from, and have it take effect on all the folders and subfolders? I tried
to customize fields, but still does not work. This is within outlook mailbox
and also within personal folders, I am not able to do this.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
