Formatting Dates

I would like to enter a date by typing in this formate
11/2/04 and have WORD automatically re-format it to
November 2, 2004. Is this possible? Can you tell me
how to set it up in a Word document/template.
Thank you
Steve

You can do this with a Form Field in an online form or a UserForm. An online
form lets you type in only certain fields and locks remaining text. A
UserForm is a custom dialog box. Both are a lot of work to get your desired
result unless you need other features. Can you tell us more about the
context you need this in?

For more about online forms, follow the links at
http://addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm#Forms or
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm especially Dian
Chapman's series of articles.

Hope this helps,

I have a form letter where I insert dates, names, and
numbers. The text is constant(i.e., static) but the
dates, names, and numbers vary based on email messages
received. I was thinking of the EXCEL format function
where you can enter 11/2/2004 and EXCEL will format the
date as "November 2, 2004". Can this be done in WORD?
Thanks
Steve

No.

Explore the Online form unless the date you are talking about is the date
you create the letter (with specific names); if the latter, use a CreateDate
field which can be formatted however you wish.

See http://addbalance.com/word/datefields1.htm for information on the
different kinds of datefields and how to format them.
